BP America Rapid Attack Teams known as the ‘RAT pack’ are using shallow draft, fast-moving vessels, sub-surface oil detection equipment and oil/water separators to clean up oil in areas of shallow water, such as surf zones and intertidal areas. These teams are already working in Mobile and Louisiana and are on stand-by, ready to go in Pensacola.
BP is taking a whole new approach to cleaning up the oil spill. For the first time, the company is assigning teams together to attack oil rapidly with new technology and tactics.
