Keith Seilhan, Mobile Incident Commander conducts a demonstration of the "Sand Shark," a BP developed beach cleaning tool developed specifically to address the beach cleaning challenges of the MC252 incident. With a design influenced by technology from the Road Construction and Aggregate industries, the Sand Shark follows the "lift and swift" approach to beach cleaning and can clean sand up to 14 inches deep. It features and adjustable front collection auger, conveys contaminated sand to sifter, an easy unload hopper, interchangeable screens for multiple sifting needs and can sift sand with a higher moisture content than traditional cleaners.
